Southern Ontario hardcore band UPLIFT aren’t the first band to carry the name, but have over the last 5 years consistently put out highly-charged positive hardcore. The band, featuring Peter Ellman on guitar, have released their final EP, with plans to break up by year’s end. The final EP is entitled Growth, and features a harder edge than previous releases. Listen to the record below.

We spoke to Ellman about the record:

Well I’m not really sure how to sum up the last few years of my life or our lives together other than saying that this EP is a pinnacle or culmination we were all working towards for a while. I should also point out that we’ll have a final Toronto show sometime this fall.

I also don’t want to speak for anyone else but I think we’d all agree this band gave us some of the best times of our lives, taught us a lot of lessons, led us to some amazing friends, and helped us together and as individuals, in ways we’ll still be figuring out for a while.

It was also just super fun, which I think is one of the most important things.

Uplift formed in 2009 and self-released several EPs.
