From La Diferencia DIY Records:
Established as one of the capital’s last straight-edge bands of the “old normal,” Bajo Control unveils its final body of work: six tracks that outpace the speed of any previous releases. While their earlier work, 'Libres de Drogas', approached themes from a more personal-political angle, these new tracks surpass all prior expectations. The lyrics range from rejecting the police to repudiating the new reality of the hardcore scene—a landscape filled with agents, promoters, PR reps, and businesspeople, where name-dropping and writing lyrics in English have become tiresome trends.
TJ’s raspy vocals convey frustration alongside a sense of closure and perspective, backed by the distorted guitars of Nacho and Jorge, which drive the sound like a runaway locomotive. Unax’s bass and Loren’s drums round out the record with decisiveness and immediacy, delivering six tracks in just over seven minutes. Recorded, mixed, and mastered by Daniel at Mosh Room Studios, the production makes the listener feel as though they are right there in the rehearsal room. Drawing on the band’s classic influences—such as Floorpunch and Stop & Think—Bajo Control has ramped up the tempo and added structural complexity, evoking the sound of bands like Straight Ahead and Confront.
While five of the tracks remain politically charged, the sixth is a Spanish-language cover of a song by the band Mental. “Sike” addresses the “tough guys” of hardcore—and not just them, but anyone who “doesn’t belong” or has lost sight of the scene’s collective spirit. Rather than a literal translation, TJ and Nacho adapted the lyrics to reflect their own experiences and how to confront that reality—an approach applied not only to this track but also to the EP’s title song.
'No Somos Lo Mismo' was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Daniel Mosh. Guest vocals are by Eli Maldita. Physical copies are being handled by La Diferencia DIY.
