Laying Still release Blessed Oblivion EP

< PREV | NEXT >

STREET JUSTICE frontman Mike Parsram has released a new EP with Laying Still, and it is heavy. 'Blessed Oblivion' is the debut release from the Toronto metalcore band. Listen to the record on Spotify - previews are available below. We've also included the lead single from the record, 'Branded Flesh'.

We spoke to Mike about his new project, and their new record. Except he legitimately got ChatGPT to write about his band for him, so here are some of the least cringeworthy snippets:

With their unique sound characterized by intricate 8-string guitar work, aggressive vocals, and hauntingly immersive lyrics, Laying Still invites listeners into a dark, atmospheric realm inspired by the iconic worlds of FromSoftware's Dark Souls series and Elden Ring.

Drawing from the heavy sonics of influential bands like Meshuggah, Vildhjarta, The Acacia Strain, and Deftones, Laying Still delivers an audacious blend of heaviness and melodic depth with ethereal atmosphere. The album promises to take listeners on a cathartic journey through themes of despair, perseverance, and the struggle against overwhelming odds—mirroring the trials faced by heroes in their favorite video game sagas.

“We wanted to create an album that not only pushes the boundaries of metalcore but also resonates with the emotional depth found in our favorite video games,” said [Band Member Name], [position in band]. “'Blessed Oblivion' is our homage to those struggles and triumphs, both in the gaming world and in life.”

'Blessed Oblivion' was produced by the band's own Brendon Padjasek and Andrew Wilson. Mastering is by Frederico Ascari. Look for the band to embark on a North American tour (Canada and the US) in support of the record. Stay tuned for tour dates and ticket information.
