Salt Lake City hardcore band Close Grip have released In Memory of Brad in order to raise funds to support the family of the band’s slain singer. Straight edge vocalist Brad Hancock was murdered outside a Soul Search show he had been running on November 15th following an altercation with an attendee who had been ejected from the show.
From the band:
As many of you have heard, our vocalist Brad was shot and killed outside of our show last night. This is very hard for us as he was not only an amazing vocalist, but an even more amazing friend. We wanna say thanks to everyone who came to any of our shows, checked out or music, and put us on shows. Brad really put his heart and soul into this band, as well as the rest of. Thanks for the support throughout the past year. Here is a link for donations for his family. Every penny helps. Rest in Power Brad. You won’t be forgotten.
A later statement:
We decided to release the three song we had recorded for our up coming full length we had just finished writing to make more money for his Family. Brad put his heart and soul into this band, as well as the rest of us. We love and miss you so much already. RIP Brother.
The shooter was apprehended shortly after the incident, and has been formally charged with first-degree homicide in Hancock’s murder. The Close Grip vocalist leaves behind a fiance and new baby, and a funding campaign has been set up to help support his new family.
