Baragon: 219 Straight Edge

New Indiana Straight Edge band Baragon have released a new EP. '219 Straight Edge' is the band's third release following their debut demo and a live record. Listen to the new record below.

We spoke to the band about their development as a band, the new record, and representing the 219:

When Baragon started, it was just me (Eli, vocals and guitar) and Cameron (Drums) . We played a single show and made a couple rough demos with that lineup, but nothing great. In April, our friend Jackson joined on bass and really filled out our sound. We started playing shows with a local death metal band we had befriended (shout out Carrion Feeder) and by June it was apparent that we needed to hit the studio and make our first real EP.

We picked two of our favorite songs from the “Baragon dark ages” and two of our new songs we had written with Jackson and went up to the Pachinko Room in Chicago to record with Chris Witt. He’s a really great guy and made us feel super comfortable in the studio, even though none of us had any experience with recording in that setting. He asked how we wanted the mix to sound and I replied with two words: youth crew.

That’s the story behind “219 Straight Edge.” We were all 17 when we recorded and it all comes from a love for hardcore of all types. The thrashy stuff, the youth crew stuff, and even the crazy heavy stuff. We’re the only band playing this style of hardcore where we live (Northwest Indiana) so we knew we had to rep 219 in the name.
