New Found Glory’s Chad Gilbert has been confirmed as the vocalist on the new Shai Hulud album. The fourth album for the band is being produced by Gilbert, as well as having him returning to the role he took for the band’s debut, back in 1997.
The official press release is excerpted here:
Matt Fox, Matt Fletcher and co. have completed recording the new album, alongside former Hulud vocalist and current New Found Glory guitarist Chad Gilbert, the vocalist on Shai Hulud’s debut full-length album “Hearts Once Nourished With Hope And Compassion.” Gilbert’s production resume includes work with H20, A Day To Remember, Terror, Trapped Under Ice, Set Your Goals, and more. Additionally, Shai Hulud has confirmed that the rumors are true; Chad Gilbert also recorded vocals for the entire album. A behind-the-scenes video from recording sessions with Matt Fox and Chad Gilbert is currently being completed and will be released in the coming months.
Shai Hulud’s Matt Fox has offered the following update:
“Just to be clear, Chad has not rejoined Shai Hulud, and it’s highly unlikely there will ever be a full tour with with him fronting the band. You can, however, catch us play together on September 16th at Reel & Restless Fest in Miami, October 13th with Chain Of Strength (!), Bold, Battery, and Shook Ones at one of the Revelation Records 25th Anniversary shows in NYC, and another show the following day, October 14th, in a city yet to be determined. These shows will be a blast. We hope to see as many of you as possible so we can celebrate together music, creative unions, and enduring friendships.”
Chad Gilbert is also set to perform with Shai Hulud at the Revelation Records 25th Anniversary show in New York City this October 13th, with additional shows to follow.
