Edge for Autism

Optimist/Pessimist Records is seeking contributors for a straight edge compilation funding San Diego,CA non-profit Include Autism. The label was recently formed by Rikk Cavin of JASONxVOORHEES and They Feed At Night.

We spoke to Cavin about the new compilation:

Optimist/Pessimist Records, my newly formed label in San Diego, Calif. is setting out to raise money for a local nonprofit, Include Autism, with a compilation of straight edge musicians titled “Edge for Autism.”

Earlier this year, I raised $175 for the American Cancer Society with a similar compilation album, “They’re Not the Last: A Tribute to Minor Threat.” I hope to raise the bar and raise more money for this worthy cause this time. Artists include everything from edge rappers and crustcore punks, to Colombian hardcore to local punks. My own horror edge band JASONxVOORHEES is also participating. There’s still room for more bands interested in participating, all submissions are due by July 31st and should be sent to Rikk.cavin@gmail.com.

I expect a GoFundMe page for this compilation will go up in first week of August for people interested in supporting the album. After those initial donations the album will go up on an Optimist/Pessimist Records Bandcamp. Future sales will be donated as the album is sold.

I’m very excited to bring together so many incredible edge artists for a good cause and I hope we can raise a lot of money for this nonprofit.

Thanks,
Rikk Cavin
