There isn’t much you can say about the new Frustrated record that isn’t immediately obvious once you start listening to it. It’s dirty, it’s loud, and it packs a punch. Losing Grip is the debut release from the Lake Elsinore, CA straight edge band, currently being handled by the Clear Minded Clothing-owned Hypergiant Records. Listen to the new record below. Blue moon.
We spoke at length to Jake Dodd about the new record, and his new band. Our conversation is excerpted below:
In most cases I think our music is pretty self explanatory. It’s fast, it’s exciting, and it’s downright pissed off. We’re four straight edge guys from a small town in Southern California where using drugs and alcohol is pretty much the norm. Forming Frustrated was a way in which we could celebrate our soberness as well as do something we loved together.
The support we’ve been getting has also been unreal. We put out our EP, Losing Grip, a few weeks ago and the amount of people that have bought and supported the release has been absolutely insane. On bandcamp right now we are #1 in Youth Crew, #2 in Straight Edge, and #6 in hardcore punk, which definitely goes to show how many people have actually been listening and downloading, and to us that is just unreal.
We’re extremely thankful to fans, friends, and the entire straight edge community for making Losing Grip and the future of Frustrated possible.
Losing Grip was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Michael Craver at Little Lamp Studios. The record is available now to download or stream through the Frustrated Bandcamp page, and will be available on hard media through Kaden Valdivieso’s Hypergiant Records.
