Michigan Straight Edge band xIron Sharpens Ironx have released a new music video, for the song 'Grasping Straws'. The music video is directed by xIron Sharpens Ironx frontman and mastermind Larry Passenier. Watch the new music video below.

We spoke to Larry about the importance of the Straight Edge community in his life:

Straight Edge became a part of my life when I was 15/16, after a friend gave me an [Eighteen] Visions CD “Until The Ink Runs Out”. That moment sparked a lifelong commitment to living drug- and alcohol-free. It helped me stay grounded, see the world clearly, and navigate life with intention. The music community welcomed me with open arms, offering support through tough times and connecting me with amazing, compassionate people. It’s more than a lifestyle—it’s shaped who I am today and how I view the world and those around me. Stay Gold, Larry

About the song:

The song “Grasping Straws” delivers a visceral critique of narcissism and its devastating ripple effects on families, particularly children caught in the emotional wreckage of broken marriages. Through raw, aggressive instrumentation and anguished vocals, the track exposes how narcissistic behavior—marked by manipulation, gaslighting, and emotional neglect—creates a toxic environment where love is conditional and self-worth is eroded. The lyrics serve as a desperate outcry, highlighting the silent suffering of children who grow up internalizing blame, confusion, and fear. Rather than offering resolution, the song lingers in the chaos, forcing listeners to confront the long-term trauma left in the wake of unchecked ego and broken boundaries.

The 'Grasping Straws' music video is edited and directed by Larry Passenier of xIron Sharpens Ironx. Filming and additional edits are by Jeff Hostetler of Red Obsidian Media Productions. Additional Filming is by Terry at Sensorium Arts. Featuring performances by Andres Gonzalez and Justin Stover.
